Ok, so…I’ve never had a problem with John Candy, the person. Seems like a really nice guy, actually. But you have to separate the artist from the art. And I’ve just never found him that funny, even when he’s trying very obviously to be.
So what we have here is a story line (good-guys-come-out-on-top type) cuz it *has* to have one, “serious” parts that get resolved, toilet humor, and a supporting cast that at least makes Candy look funny in comparison.
The plot is irrelevant; anything “serious” used solely for contrast/backdrop/straight man/a colossal waste of time/etc…
Although I will say, if you wanna put something on in the background for about an hour and a half that won’t be disturbing to you (or your friends, or your kids, or anyone really) you could go with this.
I *can* like inoffensive, I really can. Just…need it to be interesting in some way, too.
